Can You Hear Them Now?

What happens when you get the overwhelming urge to act on an idea? Do you pay attention when the same scenario keeps presenting itself? Do you make leaps when all indications are pointed to the fact that it is the right time? If not, perhaps it's time to listen to the signs of the universe. Do you hear them? Most importantly, do they make you act? Those signs are nudges by the universe, designed to keep you on path and steer you towards your goals.

Hope was sick of her job and longed for a way out. She had just learned of an online program that catered to graphic design and it piqued her interest. She liked the idea of learning at home as her schedule allowed. So Hope signed up for the course and waited for the materials to come. She waited, and waited, and waited but they did not come. Totally exasperated she called and cancelled the course. Hope decided that it wasn't meant to be and stuck it out with her day job. Ten months later she ran across an advertisement for the course again. She figured that it had worked out for the best the last time, but decided to give it another try. So she signed up again, or so she thought. About two days later she was contacted and told her credit card had not gone through. She tried two different cards, and none of them worked despite the fact that they were working for her everywhere else. So again Hope decided to put it on the back burner. About six months ago Hope decided that it was time to start making some positive changes in her life. But when she tried to register the second time, the universe would not allow her credit card to be processed, thus she couldn't pay for it. It was lucky for Hope that she didn't commit to the course then, because about 3 months later her car died and she needed to pay for the repairs using the funds that she would have doled out for the course. Conflicting signs? Yup! But for whatever reason it was clear that she was not to take the course at that time.

Learn to look for the signs that show up, and listen to their plan. Contrary to popular belief we juggle way too much, and being able to simply act when we are prompted to do so takes an incredible load off. Answers to problems that we may or may not already be aware of, fall into our laps everyday. Can you remember the last time that happened? Here's a fun exercise. Write down all of the instances that the universe gave you a nudge in the last week. Don't groan, it's just one week. If you do not recall any nudges try getting in a quiet place, closing your eyes, and really meditating on last week. When something seemingly unexpected popped into the forefront and said "Here I am!" Then write it down. Once you get started momentum will take over. Thinking about these moments and writing them down serves three primary purposes.

First it gets you in the habit of learning to recognize these nudges for what they are. Then you can begin to take full advantage of them when they initially occur. Second, it allows you the opportunity to dwell on just how wonderfully the universe is working for you, allowing you the chance to show gratitude. Lastly, reflection allows you to remember the vibrations that were being sent out at the time that the universe responded to you. If what showed up was not what you wanted, this is the prime opportunity to start tweaking the messages that you are transmitting. It's a powerful exercise. This is the original recipe for making paczki that was brought from Europe by my wife's grandmother when she first arrived at Ellis Island and the onward to Pennsylvania where she finally settled.

Just how old this recipe really is I have no idea but the only thing I know is how good the paczki's are.

You must follow this recipe exactly or it will not work well, I know, I have tried to create some shortcuts that were ok but not as good.

The Original Old Fashion Paczki Recipe

This recipe yields 4dozen of the most delicious punczki that you ever had.

Remember all ingredients should be room temperature.

1.Disolve:

¾ ounce yeast in ¼ cup warm water

warm ½ quart milk

add to the yeast and warm milk 3 cups flour and let rise for about ½ hour to create what is called a sponge.

2.Put together:

½ quart warm milk

¼ lb. Butter

2 tablespoons shortening

½ cup sugar

2 tablespoons whiskey

3.Mix steps 1 and 2 with 6 eggs, pinch of salt, 9 cups flour and mix until you get a really good textured dough.

Let the dough rise until double in size, cut the dough into 2 ounce pieces and form balls.

Place the dough balls on a well oiled flat pan, let them rise for about ½ hour to about ¾ hour.

Fry dough balls in 350 degree oil until well browned on both sides then put them on a brown paper bag to drain the oil form frying.

Let cool for a while and fill using a pastry bag with a tip that has a whole about the size of a pencil, roll in sugar or 10x sugar and enjoy with a hot cup of coffee.

You can fill them with prune leckvar or any jellies that you like.

New Apple iPhone 5 features and pricing will surprise all of us. Although it is yet to be released and there is no official information about any specific release date yet, but there is definitely a lot of speculation around it. As per the information, iPhone 5 is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011, coinciding with Apple's traditional June-July and would release of new iPhone models. As far as I'm concerned, January 2011 also seems to be a nice release date. This can also help Apple correct the antenna problem evident in the current iPhone 4. Things to Do in VA Beach

There is a lot to do in Virginia Beach! When I first visited this huge city it was a little uncomfortable trying to find my way around. After living here (and playing here) for many years, I thought it would be helpful to write an article that provided a few pieces of advice for others who may be new to the area like I once was.

The first thing that needs to be mentioned in any article about things to do in Virginia Beach, is the Ocean front! Virginia Beach has the largest pleasure beach in the entire world according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The entire boardwalk along the beach is full of fun stuff to do on a summer day! The shopping includes dozens of gift shops and clothing stores for souvenir collecting if you are looking to take something home with you after your trip.

In addition to the shopping, there is an enormous outdoor concert hall called the Verizon Amphitheater. Located right on the beach, famous bands and musicians come year round for shows that attendees are likely to never forget, right on the sand! The warm Atlantic Ocean atmosphere makes for a concert experience like few other venues can offer.

While in Virginia Beach, you will also want to check out a few of the many malls the city has to offer. The largest of which is the Lynnhaven Mall, just off of the Lynnhaven Parkway. This mall includes everything you would expect from a metropolitan mall, such as a giant AMC movie theater, as well as Dick's Sporting Good's, JCPenny's, and Macy's department stores. The mall is two stories tall, with the second floor focusing mainly on the food court that offers a variety of options that allow anyone in your party to eat exactly what they crave.

Virginia Beach is also home to three major military bases which makes it's large population of nearly half a million people constantly changing. Locals in the area are strong supporters of our military personnel, because much of the population consists of these individuals. Chances are you will run into a military family or two while visiting the beach this summer!

When it comes right down to it, the best way to find things to do in Virginia Beach is to get out there and explore the city. I could give you recommendation after recommendation, but the things you will always remember and enjoy the most are the things you stumble upon with your loved ones while out on the town. I did try a Treo running Windows and the keyboard was too small for me to use comfortably."

July 1, 2008 in California ..... if you don't have a phone with voice activated dialing you will be breaking the law dialing by hand while you are driving. So I went into my local Verizon store and bought a top of the line Bluetooth headset. I asked them to hook it up to my Treo 750 ... only 3 months old ... and to my surprise ... my phone does not support Voice Activated Dialing.

So now I'm getting ready to trade up to a Blackberry Pearl 8130.

My list would be:

2. Stable operating platform compatible with any 3rd party software you
need.

3. Ease of use... ergonomic keyboard and good visibility in all lighting

4. Excellent customer service for when it fails... they all do. "

If your business is not reliant on email then a PDA with real time email access will not benefit you one iota. If your business requires instant communication, you will need

The device which meets my needs is the Palm Treo because I need ease of use, voice quality, instant email and reliable battery. It is also a very useful device for 3rd party applications and has a great support team behind it.

How to Choose Between a Motorola MC55 and MC75 Handheld Device

I'm often asked for recommendations on mobile devices for proof of delivery applications and handheld data collection. If you're looking at Motorola devices, most people need help choosing between MC55, MC75 and MC9090 devices.

This article will explain what you should consider when choosing mobile devices and will highlight real-life customer examples for field data capture and proof of delivery applications.

VERIZON

Before we start with criteria, it is important to understand what features you need today as well as in the future. With rugged devices, once you purchase the device, you cannot go back and add hardware options like a camera, GPS or Bluetooth. The devices we will discuss are:
MC9090 (MC909x) - these are the largest and most rugged of the 3 models. They are supported on all carrriers (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile) and have the broadest range of hardware options. These are the most expensive devices. MC75 - these are mid-sized devices that Motorola targets for proof of delivery, field data capture and barcode solutions. MC55 - this is the newest member of the family, has a slightly lower level of rugged design and size than MC75's. It is the least expensive.
Questions and Criteria

How to Choose Between a Motorola MC55 and MC75 Handheld Device

You should narrow your hardware choice by asking the following questions.

Do you need cellular data? If so, what cellular carrier do you use and do you know what the data coverage is in your territories?
The reason for this is simple - some territories like the North East are completely owned by a carrier (Verizon). If someone wants T-Mobile or AT&T coverage, they need to check or consider changing carriers. The MC55 is not currently supported on Verizon, so the choice is between an MC75 and MC9000. All devices support GSM networks (e.g. T-Mobile and AT&T). Do you want want device to cover international or outside of North America? If so, you will need to only consider GSM.
If you need cellular data, are you going to do anything that requires 3G/3.5G or faster networking?
Most customers don't know the answer to this but the question becomes more clear if you are: Taking pictures - picture size can be adjusted on the mobile device, but a reasonable quality color picture would be approximately 1Mb or larger. Downloading large files, such as site plans, MSDS sheets or merchandising plan-o-grams for proof of delivery apps.

The MC55 is targeted at basic route accounting users.The MC55 vehicle cradle does not have a built-in serial port. Examples of where this applies are: serial cable connection to the vehicle GPS or JBus (vehicle diagnostics), fuel delivery meters or external communication devices. The MC75 and MC9000 vehicle cradles have a built-in serial port. Their cradle is more expensive than the MC55 cradle by approximately 0-200.
Do you need barcode scanning?
All devices support barcode scanning. The only decision is whether you need 1D/2D or long-range. 2D scanners can be helpful if you have barcodes that may get dirty or damaged. Examples of this include plant nurseries where 2D barcodes may be easier to read due to dirt on the barcode label. Long range scanners can scan barcodes up to 40' away. Long range scanners are only available on the MC909x platform. Examples of long range scanning would be scanning the barcode at the top of a warehouse rack from a forklift.
Do you need RFID?
If you need RFID, your only option is an MC9090. Note that RFID enabled devices are significantly more expensive.
Do you have specific ruggedness requirements? Will you be dealing with harsh environments?
The MC9000 is the most rugged device. It has the best drop spec (6' to concrete) and the best IP (intrusion protection) rating. The MC75 is plenty rugged and designed for field delivery applications (5' to concrete). The MC55 is close to, but not as rugged as the MC75. It is designed for the field but not for harsh environments. Examples of harsher environments would be where you work outside in the rain or dirt - such as oil field services, agriculture or bulk product delivery such as fuel, lubes, chemicals or fertilizer to tanks outside.
What size keypad do you need? What type of input will the keypad be used for? Do you need a pistol grip?
The MC55 and MC75 both have similar sized keypads. They are larger than a BlackBerry but the size of the device shell is fixed. The MC9000 comes in a short version (MC9090S), a long version (MC9090K) and a gun/pistol grip (MC9090G). The keypads on MC9000's are larger than the MC75 or MC55. If drivers use gloves (such as fuel delivery) then it would be worth comparing the MC9000 to the MC75. If you perform a lot of scanning, you should consider a pistol grip, which is only available on the MC9000.

So which device is right for you? The following highlights examples of using each type of device.

MC9090 - Bulk bleach manufacturer with 8 plants in 5 states. This customer receives bleach in rail cars and then distributes to pool supply companies, municipal water treatment facilities, paper manufacturers, etc. The bleach is loaded at the plant and the driver starts their day by scanning a barcode label on the truck (tractor), trailer and delivery ticket. They weigh the truck on an industrial truck scale and wirelessly receive the truck weight to calculate the volume of product on the truck. The driver makes deliveries to a set of customers and scans the delivery ticket, product, etc and records product quantities in each tank. The customer signs the device for proof of delivery and then prints a receipt on mobile Zebra RW420 printers. When drivers return to the plant, the driver scans and weighs again to calculate remaining volume. Once at the plant, deliveries are sent wirelessly to the goRoam server for processing and export for invoicing.
This customer selected MC9000's because they needed the most rugged device, a large numeric keypad, a larger battery to power the wifi since they use wifi for roaming throughout the plant to load products, and because they wanted a larger device so it was easier for the driver to keep track of it.
MC75 - HazMat pickup and disposal for large retailers, oil change shops, car dealers, etc. across 30 states. These drivers receive routes/stops through cellular communications while on the road. The drivers go to each stop and pickup one or many HazMat containers (waste oil, paint, chemicals, etc.). They place a barcode on the container (by hazmat product type) and record the contents of each container. This can involve a reasonable amount of data capture through the touch-screen on the handheld device as they have to complete different mobile forms depending on the pickup. Once complete, the customer signs for electronic signature capture/proof of pickup.
This customer selected the MC75 because they wanted a mid-sized device that would be easy for the driver to carry but would be rugged enough to be around hazardous materials and heavier equipment that might bang around or have the device dropped. They needed 3G network speeds to facilitate image capture. GPS is done on the vehicle but can also be captured on the handheld.
MC55 - Door-to-door surveys and canvassing on a large scale. This customer canvasses homeowners and businesses. They complete field data surveys that may contain 300-750 questions, although not all are required to be answered. When a homeowner or business needs a survey completed, the field personnel scan a barcode and take 1 or more high-quality pictures per site. They take a GPS reading and possibly make a drawing on the device to show the site. Once complete, the homeowner signs the device for proof of delivery/electronic signature capture and a receipt is automatically emailed.
This customer evaluated the MC55 and MC75, but selected the MC55 because it was less expensive. They determined they did not need the ruggedness of the MC75 or the 3G network speed since the pictures would queue and sync in the background. They wanted the smallest/lightest device since the device would be carried all day by the field personnel.

Sprint Announces Google Voice Integration With Nexus S 4G

Sprint may be having a bad day with the announcement of AT&T 's buying the T-Mobile for B heavy, but this does not prevent the company moving forward with its program of 4G.

While competitors such as AT&T and Verizon are finally pushing for LTE 4G data connectivity, Sprint is putting an emphasis WiMAX. Today, the company announced its latest Mobile WiMAX: Nexus S 4G.

The relationship of S 4G is the "first 4G device pure Google," according to Sprint and will feature Wi-Fi hotspots with up to 6 devices. Other features include a 1GHz processor Hummingbird, 512 MB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, Near Field Communications (NFC), and two cameras (5 megapixels in the back, front VGA).

Nexus 4G S, of course, you have the latest operating system for smartphones Google Android 2.3 "gingerbread".

"As the first Android smartphone 4G 2.3, Nexus S 4G promise of advanced data capacity of 4G to provide an incredible experience to surf the Web, offers a quick and easy access for future updates Android and access to integrated services with the voice of Google. "

Nexus 4G S will be sold at $ 199 with a two-year contract.

The other big news coming out of the Sprint / Google arrived, today announced the close integration of Google's smartphone Sprint voice. Sprint customers can now use your existing phone number to Sprint that the number of Google Voice, without having to transfer. Any text message or call the phone displays the phone number Sprint.

The Torch 9850 is definitely a fast phone and it makes for an easier life, but it does seem that the makers of the BlackBerry are releasing a lot of handsets and although they are all very good, are they are very different from each other and if so, how?

I think Sprint made a good move by holding off a couple days before coming in with their Simply Everything unlimited plan.
